Going Down the Road

This has got to be the best deal going right now. $23 each way to NYC on a deluxe DC2NY bus with free Wi-Fi, free movies, free bottled water, and exactly 6 other passengers.

This is Vasily, one of the co-owners of DC2NY, and Ronny, our bus driver, prior to our departure from Dupont Circle.

The bus left precisely at 8:15 as scheduled. We're already in Baltimore and so far it is a no-hassle ride.

The weather seems to be cooperating for our trip to NYC to see Hair in Central Park. It's a blue cloudless sky and the humidity is remarkably low. Couldn't be better.

I'm amazed to be in a tunnel and still have the Wi-Fi signal.

I can't imagine how DC2NY is going to stay in business if they run many buses as empty as this one, but hey, I'm not complaining.

Big Apple, here we come!

Can't wait to hear about your adventures in NYC. I'll also look for a tweet (chirp?) from your buddy and keep one eye on the tennis this evening.

maybe it's not so empty when it's not Labor Day Weekend... just a thought.

I am so envious about your trip to NYC!! How cool is that... a trip to the big apple and trip back in time to see HAIR!!

I hope you are having a grand time!

KC -- He's been tweeting all day. My guess is you're ready for this bird to shut up!

Kelly -- Yes, I hear the bus is usually packed.

DrZ -- We're from Washington, DC.

I gotta check that out. I usually take Amtrak, and it's a wallet-killer.

I still can't believe a city as sopisticated and worldly as NYC is supposed to be has no campground.
No wonder the bus was empty.
I should come up and start a Campground for ya'll.

I read your "blog" dated November 14 2006 and have to tell you that you should be more responsible about your posting. You have no idea what happened that day and you don't have a clue about the type of person Carey Goehle is. He is a great person and a very compassionate one as well. People who cannot afford a dog shouldn't own one. People act like veterinarians should do things for free. Even though we do, why should we feel obligated to perform free or discounted services? Also, why should we serve as a credit company for people who will ultimately not pay? Do you realize the amount of student debt that is racked up by your average veterinary student? It is on average around $90-100,000. Excuse us for trying to make a living! Its easy to criticize people from the "cheap seats" like you do but atleast get your facts straight before you ever post another "blog" such as that.

A friend of Carey Goehle,

Anon -- For your information, I tried very hard to "get my facts straight" before posting anything. Part of my reason for posting was the fact that I was rather rudely stonewalled when I tried to discuss this with the veterinary clinic.

I just read a story today about someone who adopted a dog whose leg had been badly damaged and the owner could not pay for the necessary surgery. The vet did the surgery anyway and then put the dog up for adoption. That's what I call dedication.

Have you thought about the reason you were "stonewalled" is because you had NO right to know. Were you a part of the patient-doctor-client relationship? If not, it was none of your business. Can I call your veterinarian and get information on your pets? For that matter, can I call your Dr.? No. And since you did not get all the facts that you wanted, then that is all the more reason not to put it in your "blog". The unfortunate part about so-called blogging is that people take this junk as fact. That is why you are irresponsible and just a "drive-by" commentator.

Anon -- I have removed the names of the animal hospital and the vet from the post in question. I can't figure out why you chose this post on which to leave your comments!

It may take Google a few days to catch up with this change.

I will always be curious as to the truth of the golden retriever story if it is not as I related it, but I guess I'll never know.
