Look What Came Today

Today I started biking again. Actually it was a stationary bike at PT, but it felt good all the same. We talked about swimming and starting to do cardio things on a regular basis once again so I can get away from the feeling of becoming a slug.

My cool cane arrived in the mail today. It doesn’t give quite the same level of support that a crutch does, but it looks so good, don’t you think? My friend KC and Jake accompanied me on a one-house-longer walk up the street today. I managed just fine with the new cool cane.

My hip has been sore today, mostly after my PT session. She pushed a couple of rotations to that brink of pain in her effort to increase my range of motion. Hopefully by tomorrow I will be relatively pain-free again.

I managed to fit some cooking in between PT and a nap. I made a huge batch of lentil soup with roasted garlic and made a beet salad. Good winter comfort foods.

Avid Reader -- My Jake has become my constant companion these days. I'm convinced he would have made a terrific guide dog.

Lentil soup will take the pain away. Yum.

Lemmonex -- I think I used far more lentils than the recipe called for, so the soup quality was missing, but they were delicious, especially because I mixed in an entire bud of roasted garlic. Yes, a good remedy for most any pain!

Pretty. And shiny. And you're doing so much! Biking in PT and cooking and everything. Great job, Barbara.

Hopefully you are not the caution that my mom was when she had a cane. She is the type of person who shouldn't be given a stick of any kind... :::Laugh::: not! really she is very sweet, but the temptation to swat was heavy in her :::laugh:::. Keep up the good work, Miss B., and don't be shy with the pain pills!

Kristin -- I'm still adjusting to the slowness of this life of mine.

Kelly -- I'm still too reliant on my cane to hold me up to be shaking it at anyone!

Love the cane! At a quick first glance, I actually thought I saw tassels dangling from the handle, like on a '60s girl's bicycle! How snazzy you are! Congrats on all the great progress.

XO,

F.

Anon -- No bicycle streamers, but cool nonetheless. I'm already loving my cane. I found a great use for it in Nordstrom's today to keep the elevator door from closing!
