Celebrating Independence

There’s always a question as to where to go to watch the July 4th fireworks. Most every option involves traffic and hordes of people. But tonight we had another option.

My good friend recently bought at condo at the new Jenkins Row development on Capitol Hill. The fact that it overlooks Potomac Gardens subsidized housing was offset tonight by its western exposure.

We sat around eating shrimp cocktail and looking out her fifth floor picture window at the spectacular display of fireworks down on the Mall.

It was a nice family outing and a fitting way to celebrate our last night together for a while. Our daughter leaves tomorrow to head back to San Francisco.

We’ve had our moments, but all in all I would say this has been one of the more successful family “reunions”.

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th with friends and family.

It sounds like a great place to watch the fireworks -- up high, and above the crowds!
