A cute little face

Today we got a glimpse of what grandchildren might be like. Our cleaning person brought her daughter Stephanie with her and initially left her sleeping in our laundry room.

I couldn’t imagine what it would be like for the year-old baby to wake up in our strange dark laundry room, but she seems to have survived quite well.

Jake is totally accepting of this new little person, occasionally going over to sniff her.

She watched me intently as I ate my lunch, so I made her a tortilla with melted cheese that she eagerly consumed.

If I ever do have grandchildren, I hope they are as well behaved as this little girl, who seems content to babble to herself as she sits on our family room couch waiting for her mother to finish her work.

I find the sound of a dryer quite soothing. Apparently a lot of kids do, too. I also love tortillas with melted cheese. And dogs, as you know. So, when I come visit, I'll feel right at home with you! :-)

Seriously, what a sweet girl, and how nice to have a Little Person in your home! I do hope you and D get to be grandparents someday, because I think you'd LOVE it!

Anon -- I'm filing away all this trivia so I'll be ready for your visit. Tortillas with melted cheese -- check! I'll even add the grilled vegetables and chicken that I had on mine.

Stephanie really is adorable. And I love the way they gave her the most American name they could come up with.

What a sweet little person! Your grandma instincts are quite good--tortilla with melted cheese is my grandbaby's favorite lunch. Now she can answer the question "what do you want for lunch" with "ques- a- DEEEEEYA!" Yummy.

What a sweet, sweet girl! It sounds like a great change for the day. When was the last time a baby played in your house?

It's hard not to capitulate to an adorable child! I hope you someday have your own grandchildren to fall in love with

Cute! I'm glad Jake took to her, too. He's such a good dog. :)

Terry -- Glad I measure up!

Kelly -- I worry a little already about her language development because there were no meaningful syllables at all. Maybe a year is too young.

Kristin -- Can't remember the last baby to visit.

Pauline -- Me too (grandchildren).

Steve -- Jake is remarkably adaptable for a dog his age.

She is adorable!

But the thing that strikes me most is....

You have a cleaning lady. I used to have someone for a while when times were better. It is amazing how much time I spend cleaning and working around the house these days. I am getting tired of working so hard at everything.
